Session 8 (Final Session)
On the evening of Saturday, October 12, 2024, the eighth and final session of the Media and Climate program was held. This program is implemented by the National Forum for Environment and Sustainable Development (NFESD) in cooperation with the Arab Network for Scientific Journalism and the Humanitarian Journalism Foundation. The session was conducted via Zoom and was titled “Open Source Tools in Environmental and Climate Investigations.”
The session was presented by Abdul Halim Hafina, a journalist specializing in television investigations based on open sources. He discussed the advantages of using journalistic sources in providing available and free information for journalists.
Trainer Hafina pointed out the importance of gathering information from open sources on environmental issues and documenting it continuously to create an up-to-date database through which journalistic stories can be discovered and referred to when needed.
Trainer Hafina discussed the most important open source tools that can be used by journalists interested in producing specialized materials on environmental issues and climate change.
Journalist Hafina also encouraged journalists to master the English language because it allows journalists to access open source information and data better compared to a journalist who does not speak it.
This session is the eighth and final session in a series of sessions of the Media and Climate program launched by the National Forum for Environment and Sustainable Development (NFESD) in cooperation with the Arab Network for Scientific Journalism and the Humanitarian Journalism Foundation, in order to develop the capacities of journalists in dealing with climate and environment related topics.
