The National Forum for Environment and Sustainable Development (NFESD) is a Yemeni civil, non-governmental, non-profit organization that was established in Yemen in 2021. The forum is working in areas related to the environment, sustainable development in Yemen .
About the Program:
The NFESD Agriculture Program is dedicated to promoting sustainable agriculture and enhancing food security in our communities. We work towards achieving this by supporting farmers in adopting sustainable farming practices, adapting to climate change, conserving biodiversity, and increasing agricultural productivity. Our program focuses on farmer empowerment, capacity building, and community-led development.
About the Volunteer Role:
We are seeking passionate and committed volunteers to support the NFESD Agriculture Program Coordinator. Volunteers will have the opportunity to contribute to various program activities and make a real difference in the lives of farmers and communities. Specific volunteer roles may include:
- Farmer Training and Workshop Support: Assisting with the organization and delivery of training programs and workshops for farmers on sustainable farming techniques, climate-smart agriculture, and efficient resource management.
- Policy Advocacy Support: Contributing to research, communication efforts, and networking with stakeholders to advocate for policies that support sustainable agriculture and agroecology.
- Farmer Cooperatives and Market Access Support: Assisting with the formation and strengthening of farmer cooperatives, promoting collective marketing, and facilitating market linkages for farmers.
- Research and Innovation Support: Contributing to research activities on sustainable agriculture, soil health, climate resilience, and crop diversification, and disseminating research findings to farmers.
- Awareness Campaign Support: Assisting with the development and implementation of awareness campaigns to promote sustainable agriculture practices among farmers and the wider public.
- Farmer Exchange Program Support: Facilitating farmer exchange programs, organizing study tours, and creating platforms for knowledge sharing and learning between farmers.
- Sustainable Farming Certification Support: Assisting with the establishment or support of sustainable farming certification programs to recognize and reward farmers who adopt sustainable practices.
Responsibilities:
- Participate in program activities as assigned.
- Work collaboratively with program staff, community members, and farmers.
- Follow program guidelines and procedures.
- Attend relevant training sessions.
- Communicate effectively with team members and community members.
- Maintain accurate records of activities.
- Adhere to the organization’s volunteer policies.
Qualifications:
- Passion for sustainable agriculture and community development.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
- Willingness to learn andadapt.
- Relevant skills and experience in areas such as agriculture, community engagement, training, research, or advocacy are desirable but not required.
- Fluency in English Language.
